Virtually mint condition and now quite rare 1870 EKII. Exceptionally fine real silver frame with a crisp black finished magnetic iron core. So called Core type B manufactured by the private foundry of J.Godet & Söhne. Typical characteristics of the Godet core are the crossed-over numeral 8s and the tall narrow 0.Austrian style ribbons in very good worn condition with slight soiling.
After 1870/71., the states of Bavaria, Saxony and Wurttemberg, which were allied to the House of Habsburg until 1866, often wore the Iron Cross in the Austrian style, on a ribbon folded to a triangle or a pentagon.
The 1870/71 Commemorative War Medal for Combatants is in excellent bright condition with the majority of the original gilt finish intact.
Overall a very difficult to upgrade 1870 EKII medal bar and now getting quite rare!
