Early full rig Army officers dagger with personalisation by SMF.

A very good condition model 1935 Heer Dolch für Offiziere by SMF of Solingen. SMF is quite a rare maker of Army daggers.
The nickel silver plated alloy unique to SMF crossguard is in excellent crisp condition with minor wear to the plating.
The ferrule and pommel are in excellent condition with crisp detailing. Some minor wear to both.
The nickel plated steel based scabbard is straight with no damage, some patina in places.
Typical SMF scabbard bands in perfect condition.
The solid trolon early slant grip is in mint condition. Two tone pumpkin orange in colour on the obverse with a lighter orange on the reverse. No chips or cracks. Truly a beauty to behold.
The blade is in generally very good condition that is still bright with the majority of the original crossgraining intact. The tip is still needle sharp.
Crisp seated king SMF logo is nicely etched.
There are perhaps 4 marks where the scabbard retaining springs have rested on the blade with a couple of other smaller marks.
The blade has been professionally engraved with the following script - Betty S.lb Mac. S.lb is the shortened term for Sienem Lieben or his/her beloved. So it translates as "Betty to her beloved Mac".
The names Betty and Mac do not appear to be Germanic sounding but I'm reliably informed that they have been used as a shortened term for Elisabeth and possibly the old German name of Macco. The fighter ace and Ritterkreuzträger Gordon Gollob was actually MacGollob and was called Mac by his comrades.
Very interesting and unusual engraving that I first thought may have been an American bringback if it wasn't for the German term S.lb.
The original portepee looks to have been tied to the dagger for ever and shows considerable heavy wear especially to the swing areas.
The basic style hangers are in excellent condition with patina to the buckles. Both spring clips are in perfect working order. The bullion facing and green velvet backing is in excellent condition.
Overall a scarce early slant grip Heer officers dagger with an unusual engraved personalisation.
