Unusual metal boxed 1914 Iron Cross Second Class by Klein und Quenzer.

Very unusual octagonal silvered tin box with embossed 1914 Iron Cross/oakleaves to lid and Balkenkreuz motifs to the sides.
Hinged lid in perfect working order.
Housed inside in a fitted off white velvet base is a pre 1916 Iron Cross Second Class maker marked KO.
Dr Wernitz the author of The Iron Cross 1813-1870-1914 The History and Significance of a Medal has put forward a very convincing argument and has provided evidence that the marker mark KO is actually Klein Oberstein.
Crisp pre 1916 Government standard unmarked 938 grade silver frame with magnetic iron core.
Pedestal legs are all in perfect condition.
Velvet base and original cardboard liner also in excellent condition.
Only the second time I've seen this particular style of boxed Iron Cross.
Very rare and unusual piece.
